Storage location management

Anyone running more than a few hundred articles knows the question: where is that part again? Storage location management gives every screw, every box and every display a fixed place, and turns a walk through the warehouse into a planned route instead of a search.

Hierarchical addresses for every storage location

Every location gets a readable address: warehouse → aisle → shelf → level → bin. You define the depth yourself: a small warehouse manages with two levels, a high-bay warehouse needs five. Every location carries its own barcode and is read with a scanner. Addresses can be named freely (A-12-3-2) or follow a scheme you set.

Several locations per article

An article can sit in more than one place, typically a pick location with a small quantity at ground level and a reserve location with bulk stock up in the high bay. Omneya knows both quantities separately and refills the pick location automatically when it drops below a threshold. That keeps pick locations from running empty during peak hours.

Optimised picking route

For a picking list, Omneya sorts the lines by physical warehouse order. You no longer criss-cross the hall, you walk each aisle once. With batch picking (several orders at the same time) the route is optimised across all of them. In large warehouses that saves measurable time per order.

Mobile scanning

Goods receipt, transfer, picking and stocktaking all run on a mobile scanner. The picker scans the location barcode and then the article barcode. Omneya checks that the two match and reports straight away when something is off. Wrong locations, swapped articles and quantity errors are caught before the shipment leaves, not at the customer.

Location types with their own rules

Every location has a type: pick location (for fast access), reserve location (for bulk quantities), goods receipt area (a buffer for deliveries that are not yet unpacked), quarantine (blocked for sale, for example after a complaint or a best-before risk). The type steers the picking logic: quarantine stock never shows up in sales, goods receipt stock is only released once it has been posted.

Utilisation and heatmap

Per location, per aisle, per warehouse you see the utilisation in percent, shown as a heatmap so that areas filling up stand out immediately. Before the next large purchase order you can check whether the reserve area still has any capacity. When space runs short, Omneya suggests free locations by volume and weight, so you do not have to guess where the next box fits.

Stocktaking at location level

Stocktaking does not cover the whole warehouse in one go, it runs per location. You can count single areas or aisles while the rest of the operation keeps working, which makes perpetual stocktaking possible without shutting anything down. Differences are documented per location, with timestamp and user, so that tracing and improvement become visible.
