Today the images sit in a Dropbox folder, tomorrow on the designer's desktop, the day after that nobody knows where. The media library turns that mess into an ordered, searchable collection.

One source for all media

Every image, every video, every PDF and every document sits in exactly one place. You build a folder hierarchy like the one on a file system, organised freely by your categories, brands or seasons. Tags cut across that structure: an image can sit in the folder "Summer collection 2026" and carry the tags "outdoor", "lifestyle" and "main image" at the same time. Full-text search finds files by name, tag, usage context and even by recognised image content.

Bulk upload without the waiting

You drag images into the browser by drag and drop: a hundred at once, a gigabyte in one go. The media library works in the background while you carry on. Through the API, your photographer, your supplier or your translator uploads directly, without having to log in. Folder mappings make sure the file ends up in the right folder.

Automatic image optimisation

On upload, the media library compresses every image and creates a WebP variant alongside it, plus several resolutions for responsive delivery. The original is kept unchanged, and the optimised variants are regenerated when you change quality levels or dimensions. In the storefront, the browser loads the format and size that suit the device, so pages load faster without you doing anything.

Usage tracking: nothing is deleted blindly

Before you delete a file, the media library shows you where it is used: in which articles, on which landing pages, in which blog posts, in which category headers. Anyone tidying up sees at once which files are genuinely orphaned and which are still in use. Deleting an active product image by accident is caught before it happens.

CDN delivery worldwide

Every file is delivered through a content delivery network: visitors in Hamburg, Madrid and Tokyo each receive the file from the nearest edge node. Images appear in fractions of a second and your own server stays unburdened. SSL is standard, hotlink protection can be switched on if you want it.

Versioning and permissions

When you upload a new version of an image, the old version stays available. You can restore it at any time. You assign access rights per folder: your copywriter may only upload images into "Blog", your photographer only into "Products/New arrivals", your marketing agency sees only the brand assets. That keeps the media library tidy even when many hands work on it.
