Oversized goods and freight shipping
Not everything fits into a DHL box. For oversized goods, Omneya offers as standard:
- Custom freight connector: configurable via notification email or webhook, covers most freight partners
- Notification workflow with delivery slot selection by the end customer
- Two-person handling flag per article (maintained manually)
- Shipment weight and dimensions as triggers for freight vs. parcel
Specific partner integrations (DACHSER, DB Schenker, GLS oversized) are not part of the standard package. They are scoped per project on request. Which partners are currently live is clarified during the migration check.
Mixed shipping: freight + parcel in one order
An order with a foosball table (freight) and a care set (parcel) is split automatically:
- Two separate shipping documents, two tracking numbers
- One consolidated invoice for the customer
- Delivery status per partial shipment visible in the customer account
- Auto-split based on article properties (oversized flag, weight, volume)
Notification workflow
For freight shipments, the end customer receives a notification email with a delivery slot request:
- Slot selection in a time grid
- Customer reply written back into the Omneya order
- Notification status synchronized with the freight partner (email or webhook)
- Reminder before the delivery date
Two-person handling
Heavy or oversized articles can be flagged manually as "two-person handling". The flag controls:
- Shipping cost calculation (surcharge per shipment)
- Notification workflow (mandatory slot instead of standard delivery)
- Note on the shipping document for the freight driver
Roadmap: automatic two-person handling detection based on weight or volume thresholds is in preparation.
Shipment tracking
Tracking updates from freight systems run through two paths:
- Webhook integration (if the partner offers a webhook API)
- Email parsing as fallback for partners without a webhook
Both paths are custom integrations on request and are set up per project.
