Community
Your own community inside your shop, on your domain: feed, members and moderation, plus points, levels and badges. Open for free or sold as a paid membership through your articles.
What it does
- Several communities per shop, each with its own page, logo, banner and colours
- Access public, private or on request with approval
- Paid membership through a shop article, as a one-off purchase or subscription, unlocked and expired automatically
- Posts with text, an image or a video from YouTube, Vimeo or Loom
- Comments with replies, likes and pinned posts
- New posts and comments appear without reloading
- Topic areas, also for moderators only or from a certain level
- Points for posts, comments and likes received, with daily caps
- Ten adjustable levels and badges, including streaks of active days
- Leaderboard for 7 days, 30 days and all time, can be switched off
- Optional loyalty points for community activity, with a conversion factor of your choice
- Roles owner, moderator and member
- Reports, hiding, comment lock and member bans
- Tamper-proof log of all moderation actions
- Notifications in the member area for comments, replies, likes, level-ups and badges
- Sign-in with the customer account, “My communities” in the customer account
Your community runs inside your own system, on your domain and in the look of your shop. Customers sign in with their customer account and find their communities under “My communities”. No second provider, no second login and no extra data processing agreement.
You can run several communities side by side, say an open one for all customers and a closed one for participants of a programme. Each is public, private or accessible on request only. You approve join requests one by one.
Paid membership
If access should cost something, you link the community to an article from your shop. That can be a one-off purchase or a subscription. As soon as the payment is in, the member is in. When the subscription ends, so does access, but posts and points are kept in case someone comes back. The community page shows a buy button for this.
Feed and topic areas
Members write posts with text, one image or an embedded video from YouTube, Vimeo or Loom. Below them people comment and reply, and posts and comments can be liked. New posts appear without reloading the page. Anything important you pin to the top.
Topic areas keep the feed organised. You can set an area so that only moderators post there (handy for announcements), or open it only from a certain level upwards.
Gamification: what earns points
Gamification simply means that taking part earns points. A post is worth 10 points, a comment 5, every like received 2, and joining 5 once. Daily caps stop anyone from pushing up the list with one-word comments. The points lead to ten levels, from beginner to grand master. Badges are awarded for the first post, for 10 posts, for 25 comments or for seven active days in a row.
You adjust point values, levels and badges per community, and the names of levels and badges per language as well. The leaderboard shows the most active members of the last 7 or 30 days and of all time. If you don't want it, switch it off.
If you also use the loyalty program, taking part in the community can earn loyalty points there as well. You switch this on in the program and set how many loyalty points one community point is worth. If a post is deleted or a like is withdrawn, the loyalty points go back too.
Moderation
Members report content as spam, abuse or off-topic. The reports are collected in the backend. Moderators hide posts and comments, close discussions to new comments and ban members, who then cannot simply sign up again. Every moderation action is recorded in a log that cannot be changed afterwards.
The roles are owner, moderator and member. In the customer record you can see which communities a customer belongs to.
